Finally, after many years, Mongolian gers are recognised in the world for its conviniency and eco friendlyness.
In Portugal as far as I know three places set up Mongolian gers as luxurious and exotic campings. I stayed in one of them last March, while weather was terrible but I felt so warm and cosy and bathroom was inside a tent which is unusual for real Mongolian tents. Our hosts were great and very friendly.
Vale do Rossim Eco Resort is located in the heart of the Serra de Estrela. Its enterprenuer, Julio Barraso modified Mongolian tents for Portuguese humid weather conditions and desinged for western users. He was saying that many Portuguese come to see the place. He counted an event that once someone opened tent's door without permission for curiosity. For visitors it is great to see stars at night without leaving tents because windows are on the roof.
